The Fresh Pines at Clean Lake is a diorama inspired by the simple objects I associate
with the nostalgia of holiday road adventures, such as tree air fresheners and winter
washer fluid. However, they have been re-imagined in materials that have an internal
glow, interacting with light in a way that is a subtle nod to the fleeting sense of
magic they possessed during the excited rush to get home. Together, form a luminous
winter scene consisting of trees surrounding a frozen pond and a single bright-yellow
tree nested within the diorama, a beacon of the special place you’re heading for -
